Aaron has extensive and successful experience in the strategic use of media in the Greater Seattle media market. His work with senior elected officials, campaigns and corporate clients at the highest executive levels has generated positive media coverage locally, nationally and internationally.
Serving for four years as spokesperson for former Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn, Aaron has experience in crisis communications, general press relations, message development and strategic media planning. Before founding Pickus Communications in 2015, Aaron had the benefit of working for Bob Gogerty of Gogerty Marriott on national telecommunications public affairs research and communications for AT&T and Vulcan Philanthropy, Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen’s organization for forwarding his philanthropic goals.
Aaron has led communications for statewide Initiative 1401, a successful ballot measure passed in every Washington State county. Most recently, Aaron led communications for the Healthy Kids Coalition, a successful public affairs advocacy effort for the Seattle City Council to adopt a tax on sugary drinks in the city. And Aaron also currently supports Chris Hansen’s investment team in their effort to construct a new multi-purpose arena in Seattle’s Stadium District. Among other projects, he provides messaging, brand development, public positioning and media relations support for industry associations, government agencies and private sector efforts.
Raised in Mukilteo, Washington, Aaron graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and in Political Science. He lives in the Mount Baker neighborhood of south Seattle with his partner and daughter. While he has been fortunate to live and travel outside of the Pacific Northwest, there really is no place like home.
